If you are traveling through Belize, it is almost a must that you put this on your list of things to do in Belize. The only way to explore these caves is by booking a tour. Tourism through the caves is very strict and regulated due to protection permits. In fact, the only way to see the caves is by going with a certified tour guide in a group of no more than eight people. You can find all types of tours and excursions of these caves offered by different companies. But be sure to book yours in advance because only a limited number of people can explore these caves each day. The great thing is you can’t go wrong with the tour company you pick, they all offer similar experiences so you are sure to have a blast. Save yourself the hassle and book your tour about a couple weeks in advance to secure your spot.

The 2000 inhabitants that populate Caye Caulker Village are welcoming and kind to the growing number of backpackers and tourists who visit seasonally. This limestone coral island is just under one mile long and the uniqueness of this island is like no other. On one side of the island, you can explore some of the dry, exposed coral reef. When you are ready to go exploring the live reef, hop onto the other side where diving and snorkeling is an experience like no other. There are also great manatee tours throughout the island that you cannot miss out on.
We recommend Caye Caulker for a day trip. If you plan on exploring the whole island in depth, then it may be wise to stay at one of the many hotels scattered throughout the island. 3. Dive in the Great Blue Hole

The Great Blue Hole is a massive marine sinkhole just off the coast of Belize. It lies in the middle of the Lighthouse Reef System and is the perfect spot for deep sea diving and snorkeling. 4. Stop by Half Moon Cay

5. Pay a Visit to Cayo District

Travel back in time to Mayan History by planning a trip to Cayo District. This western part of Belize is home to many historical Mayan relics that tell a unique story of Belize's past. This makes Cayo District easily one of the best things to do in Belize. For the nature enthusiast, Cayo district is the place for you. Enjoy beautiful butterfly gardens and even more stunning jungles. Admissions for adults is $15.00 and admission for children is $5.00 We love that the zoo is open every day form 8:30a.m. to 5:00p.m. We suggest arriving as soon as you can to thoroughly enjoy the experience. Be sure to pack a water bottle thought. Although you will be concealed from the sun by the trees in some locations, the humidity and heat will leave you thirsty.
7. Get Away to Dangriga and Hopkins Village

If you are looking for things to do in Belize that are centered around music and authentic culture, then this is for you. Get a taste of the authentic Belize culture by visiting the hidden towns of Dangriga and Hopkins. While Dangria is a bustling town of authentic Garifuna culture, Hopkins is a small village with a more modest appeal. These two towns are home to the Punta Rock music genre. It is also in these towns that the evolution of indigenous music continues to grow. If you happen to be in Belize during National Garifuna Day (November 9th) then these two locations are where you want to be.

If you do plan a trip to Ambergris Caye, you are sure to find lodging and activities that suit your budget needs.
Getting to the island itself ranges in price points as well. You can easily get to Ambergris Caye via airplane, but it will set you back about $130 round trip. We recommend taking a water taxi from Belize City for about $27.00 per person. You can also get here from some of the surrounding islands, but that water taxi prices tend to a little more expensive from that route.
10. Visit Hol Chan Marine Reserve
Hol Chan marine reserve is Belize’s oldest aquatic reserve. It is located in the southern tip of Ambergris Caye. The reserve spans about 3 miles and is separated into four different zones. The four zones include the reef, the seagrass beds, the mangroves, and shark ray alley. If you happen to take a day trip out to Ambergris Caye, then be sure to check out this marine reserve. We do advise though that if you plan to visit the reserve, you will want to scratch out the better part of a day to do so. There are different excursions available for the different zones that you want to see.
