Besides getting out of the office or up off the couch, traveling can be an invigorating way to add something new to your life and broaden your horizons.

The physical aspect of traveling is of course great for your health, but did you know there are mental and even emotional benefits to seeing new places? Immersing yourself in new cultures helps you develop your empathy as you experience new languages, new perspectives, and new food.

Think of traveling this way: You get to take space from the stress and rigors of daily life–that means leaving behind the stress related to work, personal relationships, etc. That means traveling can be a huge mood booster as you learn to enjoy new things while distancing yourself from people and activities that would normally cause you to feel stressed or depressed.

Interestingly enough, studies have shown that some people can reduce their risk of cardiovascular disease just by taking a few vacation days a year to travel. What better reason is there than that to go traveling the world?
