The Ranch at Laguna Beach: A Private Retreat in SoCal

Away from the Chaos of Staying in the Center of Laguna Beach, the Ranch at Laguna Beach is a Private and Peaceful Retreat that Travelers Will Love

We are scouring Laguna Beach to find the best hotels and resorts for you to stay in during your trip to Southern California. The Ranch at Laguna Beach is among those top hotels. Tucked away within a beautiful landscape, the Ranch at Laguna Beach has a cozy feel that immediately allows guests to feel at home. With a serene spa and 9-hole golf course, this hotel is truly a hidden gem along the California coast.

Since the Ranch is a private and peaceful retreat, it is located further away from the heart of Laguna Beach. However, the hotel provides guests with complimentary shuttle service to the main part of Laguna Beach. Whether guests decide to take advantage of the many on-site activities, take a shuttle to the beach, or do a combination of both, a stay at the Ranch is bound to satisfy. Let’s get into more of the ins and outs of what to expect when staying at the Ranch at Laguna Beach.

Let’s Talk Accommodations

Rooms, Studios, and Suites

The overall feel of the Ranch at Laguna Beach is elegant, yet casual. Guests will be pleasantly amazed by the style and sophistication of the Ranch. Yet at the same time, the resort allows for guest to feel at home. The warm and welcoming atmosphere invites guests to kick their feet up and get comfortable within the many accommodations offered. Those accommodations include Canyon Rooms, Creekside Studios, Creekside Suites, Cottages, and the Treehouse.

Canyon Rooms come decorated in a charming minimalist design, with splashes of pastel color. These rooms include a king-size bed, dual vanities, a furnished outdoor patio, and complimentary high-speed wireless internet. If travelers are wanting more space, then they can check out the Creekside Studios. Creekside Studios come with additional indoor and outdoor space for guests to relax in. A king-size bed, a sofa bed, a furnished outdoor patio or balcony, and excellent views of the surrounding creek and canyon come with your stay in a Creekside Studio. For the same creek and canyon views, guests can also book a stay in the one-bedroom Creekside Suites. The separate living area and foldout couch makes the Creekside Suite ideal for families traveling with kids.

Cottages and the Tree House

The Ranch at Laguna Beach also offers two-bedroom cottages for guests to stay in. A total of 20 cottages are on site. With an upstairs king-size bed and queen-size bed, the cottages are the perfect accommodation for larger families. Cottages also come with a large outdoor patio or balcony where guests can enjoy the tranquil surroundings. White walls, dark woods, and pops of elegant art create a comfortable and homey feel within the cottages at the Ranch at Laguna Beach.

The final accommodation is by far our favorite. That is, the Tree House. The Tree House isn’t exactly the tree house you dreamed of as a child. It isn’t in a tree, per say, but it is situated high above the Ranch grounds. Floor-to-ceiling windows reveal nature’s beauty. A fully equipped kitchen allows guests to cook and gather around the table for a meal. A large wraparound deck with plush seating invites guests to sit and admire the surroundings. The Tree House comes with a master bedroom fitted with a king-size bed and full bath. In addition, there is a guest bedroom fit with a queen-size bed and full bath. Perfect for families, honeymooners, and anniversary celebrators, be sure to consider staying at the Tree House during your visit to the Ranch at Laguna Beach

Let’s Talk Dining

Farm Fresh Food

On the property, Harvest and Ben’s Pantry are the two dining options available for guests. What we like most about dining at the Ranch at Laguna Beach is the fact that their fruits and vegetables are grown organically on site. The Ranch has its very own Harvest Garden, which happens to be Laguna’s largest organic garden. Fresh lettuce blends, kale, tomatoes, peppers and more are served straight from the garden to your plate at the Ranch. The orchard next door also delivers apples, cherries, apricots, and other deliciously ripe fruit to your table.

Harvest restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Outdoor patio seating allows for guests to view the sweeping canyon and golf course views while dining. The food itself is freshly-made on site, with, again, many of the ingredients harvested on the property. Harvest cooks up flavor and sustainability at their restaurant. Culinary delights and comfort foods are served with great service at Harvest. All foodies who eat at Harvest will be pleased with their meals. In addition, those who care about the ethical sourcing of their meals can rest assured that Harvest shares the same care. Because of the Ranch’s passion for local and ethically-conscious eating, serving local food is a priority.

Ben’s Pantry is a coffee shop, café, and bakery nestled in the canyon. The rustic wooden interior provides those cozy vibes guests are looking for in a coffee shop and café. Guests can choose to sit within the modern, yet vintage space, or step out onto the outdoor patio. From the menu, guests can order seasonal sandwiches, pastries, steaming hot coffee, a glass of wine, and more. Ben’s Pantry is a casual place to eat or drink for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The menu is changing daily. Therefore, guests should check out the chalkboard to see what the chef is prepared that day.

Let’s Talk Amenities and Activities

On-Site Activities

Speaking of farm fresh food, one activity guests can take advantage of at the Ranch is a garden tour of Harvest Garden. There are many other activities and amenities offered at the Ranch at Laguna Beach. Poolside yoga, hiking, bird-watching, campfires, picnicking, sand volleyball, and more are waiting for you at the Ranch. Junior rangers can sign up for the Junior Ranger Program where kids can explore the wilderness and make new friends along the way. From learning about the ecosystem to gardening, little rangers will love the sights, sounds, and information they will learn about through these programs.

In addition to the programs for kids, there are also family programs available at the Ranch at Laguna Beach. These activities include outdoor movie nights, stargazing, and sandcastle building. Since the Ranch is located in the middle of glorious surroundings, we say toss the electronics aside and step into the natural, exciting world around you. Other things to do at the Ranch include taking a dip in the pool, relaxing in the hot tub, and grabbing a bite to eat at the Pond Bar. Lounging poolside with a book in hand is a great way to top off a day of exploration. In addition, the Ranch provides guests with complimentary sunscreen, towels, and even snacks by the pool.

Golf Course, Fitness Center, and Sycamore Spa

One main attraction at the Ranch is the serene 9-hole golf course. This Orange Country golf course features spectacular views of Aliso and Wood Canyons. We warn you, it may be difficult for golfers to stay focused with such extraordinary beauty surrounding them! Travelers can come prepared with their own set of clubs, or rent a set from the Pro Shop. Juniors ages 5-15 are also welcome to participate in the Junior Summer Golf Clinics.

Non-golfers who still hope to workout during their stay to Southern California are welcome to visit the Fitness Center. With treadmills, elliptical machines, and free weights, the Fitness Center has everything you need for a great workout. Resort guests receive complimentary access to the Fitness Center, which is open also 24 hours a day. In addition to working out individually, guests are invited to participate in group stretch or cardio classes throughout the week.

After a round of golf or a workout at the Fitness Center, massage your sore muscles at the Sycamore Spa. Vacations are all about un-stressing and there is no better place to do so than at the spa. Spa treatments include a signature Swedish massage, a deep-tissue massage, hydrating facials, and more. Guests must be over 16 to visit Sycamore Spa.
