Check out why Mackinac Island is a top summer destination.
This lakeside Michigan town welcomes visitors with its slow pace of life and favorable summer climate. The sandy lakefront and ample maritime opportunities both contribute to Mackinac Island’s charms. The island’s lack of vehicles and chain hotels of course offer a nontraditional spin on your vacation. During your stay you can enjoy the chance to truly unplug and connect with those you love most as you bike or stroll around Mackinac Island.
At the end of the day, enjoy a spectacular sunset along Lake Huron as you make a s’more over a campfire. Of course, Mackinac Island’s activities continue well past sundown. Downtown offers a variety of pubs and restaurants, with live music filling the streets. From Folk, Rock, Jazz, to Blues, Mackinac Island is sure to have your ideal entertainment.
Traveling here falls a little on the pricier side, with the average airfare costing $476 and hotels $347. If you are willing to spend the extra money, then you can travel here for yourself to see what all the fuss is about. According to TripAdvisor, the cheapest week to visit is June 4.
Don’t miss the chance to retreat to Mackinac Island for a relaxing lakeside getaway this summer.
