At Grand Hotel, all 393 guest rooms are individually decorated. Accommodations include a variety of options including a variety of Named Rooms and Suites. Some rooms are named after first ladies and other notable individuals, places, and eras. For those who need additional flexibility, one and two-bedroom options are available. As we previously mentioned, each guest room has been decorated by the hotel’s longtime interior designer, Carleton Varley of Dorothy Draper & Co. in New York City.
Two More Room Styles Are Coming
Furthermore, the hotel has announced the addition of two more Named Rooms for guests to enjoy this year: the Prentiss M. Brown Suite and the Lilac Suite. All guest rooms come with modern amenities including individually controlled air conditioning, minibar, in-room safe, cable TV, iron, and coffeemaker.
Additional Details
Every evening you return to your hotel, you are greeted by the sounds of the Grand Hotel Orchestra and offered a nightly turndown service. When you wake in the morning, you are offered Starbucks coffee or breakfast in the Audubon Bar on the Parlor Level beginning at 6:30 AM. A morning edition of the New York Times digest is slid under your door. Everywhere you turn, the hotel staff go above and beyond to make sure your experience is memorable.

All social rates are based on our Full American Plan (FAP) which includes a full breakfast, Grand Luncheon Buffet, and dinner daily in our Main Dining Room (does not apply for all packages).
Children 9 and under stay free at Grand Hotel. Ages 10-17: $65.00 per night. Ages 18 and over: $149.00 per night after the first two adults in a room. Children’s rates include the same meal plan as accompanying adults. Afternoon and dinner children’s programs are available daily and are complimentary for guests staying on the Modified American Plan.

The historic nature of the Grand Hotel allows for a wide variety of sizes and styles throughout the hotel. All rates are based on the Full American Plan. This includes a full breakfast, Grand Luncheon Buffet, and dinner daily. Room options include the Category I, II, and III.

Named Rooms & Suites

Of all the rooms in the Grand Hotel Mackinac Island, some of its most exceptional accommodations are located in the 40 Named Rooms. These unique guest rooms reflect the lives of U.S. Presidents and First Ladies, various historical periods, decorating styles, and several prominent figures and events. As we mentioned previously, there are two new Named Rooms introduced this year. Let’s take a look at each new room and see what they have to offer.
Prentiss M. Brown Suite
This room gets its name from Michigan’s former United States Representative and U.S. Senator. Brown also served as the Chairman of the Mackinac Bridge Authority which oversaw construction of the Mackinac Bridge. The new suite will be located on the third floor overlooking the tea garden and Mackinac Bridge.
Important to note, Mr. Brown was also the grandfather to Marlee Brown, wife of Grand Hotel President Dan Musser III. Carleton Varney decorated the suite with a scholarly style, including a rolltop desk and a wing chair from Senator Brown’s library. Personal details such as family memorabilia and photographs are included as well.
The Lilac Suite
The Lilac Suite will also be located on the third floor of the Grand Hotel Mackinac Island. From your window, you will see picturesque views of the Straits of Mackinac and Grand Hotel Tea Garden filled with lilac trees. As the name suggests, the room is styled with lilac purple hues throughout. Mackinac Island is home to 130-year-old lilac trees and all 23 species. At the Grand Hotel Mackinac Island, every meal is an event and every event, a tradition. Throughout the hotel’s history, dining has been a chief highlight of the guest experience. Every meal is truly special thanks to the exceptional Chef Hans Burtscher, the service team, and ambiance of the main dining room. Following 6:30 p.m. in the main areas of the hotel and the Main Dining Room, gentlemen are required to wear a coat, tie, and slacks and women in a dress, skirt or pantsuit. No denim or shorts please.
